Welcome to the S.C.I.B.A. (South Central Iowa Bandmasters Association) web page. S.C.I.B.A. is one of the six districts comprising the Iowa Bandmasters Association. The South Central district is the largest district in the Iowa Bandmasters Association and includes Appanoose, Boone, Clarke, Dallas, Decatur, Jasper, Lucas, Madison, Marion, Marshall, Monroe, Greene, Polk, Story, Warren, and Wayne counties in Iowa. Our primary goals are to promote, encourage, enhance, and improve the interest in and quality of band music in Iowa. Our activities include a new members meeting held each September, Middle School/Junior High Honor Band Festival, High School Honor Band Festival, High School Jazz Contest, Middle School/Junior High Solo & Ensemble Contests, Middle School/Junior High Concert Band and Jazz Band Contests, Major Landers District Scholarship Competition, and a High School Concert Band Festival. In the spring of 1998 S.C.I.B.A. initiated a $10.00 fee to participate in district events. The majority of this fee is earmarked for commissioning of new works for our Middle School and High School Honor Bands. We hope you enjoy browsing our site. Be sure to check out our Directors' Internet Resource Pages. They offer a wealth of information on all aspects of instrumental music. Any comments or suggestions can be directed to the S.C.I.B.A. webmaster. |
