Criteria for IBA Hall of Fame (Deceased)
Nominations for the Iowa Bandmasters Association Hall of Fame (Deceased) must be
brought before the IBA Board of Directors for consideration and approval. Nomination
forms are available on the IBA website. Nominations should be submitted in written
form, addressing the criteria listed below. Once the Board has approved a nominee, the
IBA Historian will be instructed to secure a photograph and biographical sketch of the
inductee for inclusion in the Hall of Fame Display.
Consideration for IBA Hall of Fame status requires that the nominee meet all of the
following criteria. The nominee must be a deceased IBA member who:
- Was an active band director, composer, and/or music educator who greatly
impacted music and music education in the State of Iowa. - Gained recognition for accomplishments beyond the borders of Iowa, impacting
music and music education regionally and/or nationally. - Held leadership positions within the State of Iowa, including but not limited to the
Iowa Bandmasters Association, the Iowa High School Music Association, the
Iowa Arts Alliance, and the Iowa Music Educators Association. - Had a passion for music and music education, and mentored, advised, and
expressed genuine concern for the next generation of musicians and music
educators.
Nominees will be considered by the IBA Board of Directors at the annual May and
November business meetings.
Only IBA District Presidents may submit nominations to the Board of Directors. Please
contact your district president if you have someone you would like them to consider.
