Robin Elaine (Bonnett) Ciccotelli passed away on Thursday October 17th, 2019 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, IA after a 16-year battle with cancer. She was a warrior from Day One of her cancer diagnosis to the very end, and she will be remembered as a guiding light of grace and determination.

Robin was born on October 19th, 1960 to Robert and Elaine Bonnett. She graduated from Rock Island High School and Augustana College. Robin married Gary “Gino” Ciccotelli on August 14th, 1982, and they had two children. Robin worked hard to transform their home into an enjoyable space for fellowship, and cherished spending time with her family and friends.

Robin began her teaching career by transforming what initially was an Augustana College music education project, started by her mentor and former IBA President and IBA Hall of Famer, Don Jackson, which provided music education students a pre-student teaching experience by working to develop a band program at Trinity Lutheran School in Davenport. Robin stayed on after graduation turning that project into a legitimate music course that was then added to the curriculum of the school. She took time off from teaching after the birth of her son, but during her mother’s illness was called into her family’s wholesale flower business where she spent 11 years working in HR. However, Robin always felt the need to return to her first love – teaching music, and took a job working for Davenport teaching 5th & 6th grade band. Robin retired in 2018 after 20 years of teaching the 5th-8th grade band students of Eisenhower and Sudlow. She loved teaching and watching music enrich the lives of her students. The proudest moments of Robin’s teaching career were: when her 6th Grade Band was selected as an Honor Band at the 2005 IBA Convention, and her knowing that she influenced the lives of so many of her students. Several students are currently teaching music and many others are still active as performers.

Robin is survived by: her husband, Gary “Gino” Ciccotelli; daughter and son-in-law Jaime and Chad Weldon, and their children: Paige and Aubrey; son and daughter-in-law Anthony and Kirsten Ciccotelli, and their children: Alexander, Benjamin, and Quinn; along with her father, three brothers, and her many cousins, nieces, and nephews.  Robin was preceded in death by her mother, and her granddaughter, Chelsea Weldon.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Weerts Funeral Home on Sunday, November 10th from 1:00 – 5:00.  Memorial donations may be made in Robin’s name to the Sudlow Band. Please honor Robin’s memory by being kind to each other, living each day to the fullest, and striving to find something to be grateful for each day.
